Library hours may be cut, the visitors’ center at Cleary Lake Regional Park will likely close for the winter and additional squad car cameras won’t be purchased because of nearly $1.7 million in budget reductions agreed to last week by Scott County commissioners.
In the quest to fill an anticipated $3 million budget hole,
commissioners slashed funding for roads, parks, libraries, capital
improvements and a retirement benefit fund, as well as reduced support for outside agencies.
A public informational meeting will be held Nov. 18
at the Scott County Law Enforcement Center, located in the same
building as the Scott County Jail, starting at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the legal changes to the Gren Acres program and answer questions you might have regarding them.
By enrolling in the Green Acres program, taxes are lower on agricultural land than they would be otherwise. More information on this meeting from the county is below:

Longtime Scott County Commissioner Barb Marschall, who campaigned on the strength of her experience, held on to the seat Tuesday, despite a strong challenge by Prior Lake City Councilman Chad LeMair.
With all precincts reporting in Scott
County, the following candidates have
been elected: Michael Beard, Mark Buesgens, Tom Wolf, Barbara Marschall and
John Kline.
Beard defeated DFL challenger Sue Bruns in House District
35A, taking 55 percent of the vote. In District 35B, incumbent Buesgens beat
DFLer Taylor Kristoffe-Jones 62 to 37 percent.
