I graduated from Prior Lake

I graduated from Prior Lake High school last spring. Dr. O stepped down as principal in October of my senior year. Initially, we were told that he planned to return once he was better, so we set out to manage without him for awhile. It wasn't long, however, before it became apparent that he wouldn't be coming back to lead us. He was, however, still our principal. We had an acting principal, but Dr. O was still our leader.

Dr. O left the high school in October, and by June he had gotten significantly worse. But that didn't make him any less a principal to us. And apparently, he still saw himself as our leader too. He hand signed every single one of our 458 diplomas. That act of sacrifice, to me, meant more than any speech or hand shake or picture ever could.

The only good think about Dr. Olson leaving us now is that we, his former students, are home from college and can give him the honor he deserves.

As one of her best friends-I

As one of her best friends-I say this because she had many who called her this, I do not even know how to state how this man's actions have altered so many lives! He has taken from me a very precious gift, that is a 30+ year friendship that can never be replaced! He has taken a mother away from 2 boys who needed the mother that loved them with all her heart. He took a wife from a man that loved her unconditionally with everything he has. He took a woman that so many called friend. I agree with the previous writter, this is manslaughter-he knowingly drove after drinking, disobeyed the simplest laws by running a stop sign, and then struck an uncoming vehicle resulting in a death.
She was a very vitale part of so many lives and will forever be remembered! I have an unrepairable whole in my heart because of this man's stupidity.
I hope he nevers forget what damage he has caused and sees her face in his mind for the rest of his life. This was a preventable death that has so many long term effects on so many people! I know those that knew and loved her will never forget the pain he has caused us!

I am glad to see that the laws have evolved over the years to address these issues. What the poeple in the MADD organization have done is proving to be positive, but yet it still happens. From my perspective, this is manslaughter and there should be jail time. I have others punishments in my mind, but probably not socially acceptable.

Having children myself, I am furious that this has to happen to anyone. Not that having children makes it different, but that I have an appreciation that is different than before children, and that the death of anyone due to pure negligence by someone else is unacceptable. The woman that worked at Integra last year and other deaths is horrible.

My friends father-in-law died in a similar fashion, but involved stupid kids trying to pass on a 2-lane highway, cutting off a truck and causing a 3 car accident and that death. Can't we incorporate better hands-on education in the schools to help this?

My deepest heartfelt condolences go out to those families.
