I didn't know Ruth at all however the thought of such a young girl losing her life due to domestic abuse is heartbreaking. Bless her and her family. Our prayers go out to her...

Does anyone know people from Prior Lake doing the Tug-o-War Challenge? It sounds like a lot of fun!

It is nice to hear that Dr. Corey Lunn is considering coming back to the Prior Lake / Savage school district. His in-depth knowledge of our school district and our financial short comings will allow him to "hit the ground running" with ideas for our future. I know Dr. Lunn personally and he embodies character, cooperation and dedication. Exactly what Prior Lake / Savage needs now.

I don't think she stands much of a chance against Mike Beard but I admire her for giving it a try. I don't agree with her politics, but I know she cares about education funding which is definitely a quagmire in this state.

The Star Tribune had a nice Q&A interview with Dr. W. over the weekend. When is the Prior Lake American or the Savage Pacer going to get a Q&A interview with Chris Lind published in the paper?

I wish Dr. Westerhaus the best of success and God's richest blessings in his new endeavor. I am sorry to see him go. Now we need to move forward as best we can and put the division behind us.

Not only that, but the story you have also states that they are listening to suggestions/ideas for programming and events, so you would think they will continue to involve seniors on what they want. I think some people just feel that the big bad city has no practical intelligence whatsoever.

From what I've gathered, the city did include seniors on the committee that made decisions about what to include in the new senior center. So, presumably, some of what will be offered was suggested by seniors.

Respectfully,
Dan Swanson
There is a lot of talent in the senior community, yet all society seems to do is get them to do meaninglesss activities that would depress them instead of inspire them. I visit senior buildings and I see people wandering the halls bored to death. I think the seniors should decide their use of this facility and the rich city should pony up the funds to accomplish their goals.

Good question. Here's

Good question. Here's another one for you. Why did the teachers union wait until after the election to go work to rule? Why did none of the sitting board members talk very much about the teachers contract? Were they really going to decrease class sizes if the referendum passed or were they going to use a big chunk of that money to give in to the union?

The union has pretty much received what they wanted in the last few contracts and we have ten plus consecutive years of sitting in a negative general fund balance position to show for it. The board needs to take a stand this time and the union needs to recognize that there is a finite amount of money and very little community support for their cause right now. Most of us have to pay for a big chunk of our health insurance premium. Teachers should be no different. That's life in 2007.

I too agree that Laker Since Birth and Lori have excellent questions. School board is not a game ~ it is a very serious responsibility that affects the welfare of over 7000 children in the community not to mention about 1000 staff personnel. Chris claimed over and over he was running on a platform of fiscal responsibility, but now refuses to be on the finance committee. I commend board chair Mike Murray for offering him this position.

Chris, the time for game playing is over. Why are you not on the finance committee? Also, as a resident and tax payer, I have a right to know: are you or aren't you going to sue the school district? If you are not willing to answer this question you have a moral responsibility to resign your position.

We the public have a right to get answers to these basic questions. Chris, it is either time to talk or step aside.

I am looking for CAG to get involved in this discussion and also demand answers. CAG wants accountability from our elected officials. I couldn't agree more. Chris, its time to become accountable.

I think Laker Since Birth poses a very valid question. Why wouldn't Lind jump at the chance to have a say on the finance committee, given his comments during the campaign about wanting to balance the budget?
