Lyaman McPherson likes “old stuff,” and he’s hoping to bring some of the past back to Prior Lake.

On Monday, McPherson presented his plan to operate a 1940s-era railroad car diner in the downtown area.



MGM store could open by week's end

A liquor store that sparked a local debate and resulted in a court fight is likely to open later this week, a spokesperson said Monday.

MGM Wine and Spirits will open at 14173 Commerce Ave., likely by the end of the week, said Franchise Coordinator Jackie Jorgensen.

Update: With lots of new registrations, city voter turnout is 81 percent overall

Prior Lake voters came out strong on Tuesday, with 93 percent of pre-registered voters in the city casting ballots. But factoring in the more than 2,000 voters who registered on Election Day, the total voter turnout was 81 percent.

The city had 13,760 voters registered as of Tuesday morning, with another 2,096 registering at the polls. The city counted 12,840 ballots overall.



Eager voters line up early

The unseasonably warm temperature made things easier for early-bird voters who lined up at polling locations in Prior Lake and throughout the metro this morning before the polls opened at 7 a.m.

Polls are open until 8 p.m. today; if there's a line at 8 p.m., everyone in line will be allowed to vote. An election judge will identify the last person in line.



Nov. 3 City Council meeting cancelled

County agency's downtown proposal rejected

Prior Lake City Council members on Monday rejected a proposal by the Scott County Community Development Agency (CDA) to redevelop the corner of Main Avenue and County Road 21 currently occupied by a flower shop and two other businesses.
